Description of PDP-8 console video by Dave Gesswein, May 19th 2008. This shows the procedure to boot the computer from a RK05 hard drive. First we power on the computer then set the address to load the bootstrap at. Next we enter the two instructions and execute it. The RK05 bootstrap is the shortest. The first stage paper tape loader is 16 instructions. (For your reference) First we enter address 30 then use the load address key to set the memory address register. Next we enter the two instructions using the deposit key after each. The memory address auto increments. Next we enter address 30 again and hit the clear (reset) and continue (run) switches to start it executing. Since core memory doesn't loose its contents when powered off you can enter the restart address of the program that was running when you powered off the machine instead of rebooting it.
