Notes about Sawtooth AGP motherboards, by "uni-n" or "revision" --------------------------------------------------------------- To find uni-n version: ---------------------- From OS 9.1.x or 9.2.x (will not work with earlier versions of Mac OS): Run Appler System Profiler. Select "New Report" from under the file menu. In the New Report window, check "System Profile" and "Hardware overview" check boxes. When the report window appears, click the radio button next to "Text document." Identify your machine type by checking the "Model name:" line. "Power Mac G4 PCI Graphics": this model uses the PowerForce G4 ZIF and is not compatible with dual processors. "Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics" or "PowerMac G4": Read the last text under the "Hardware overview" section. If it says uni-n: 7 (or greater) your machine is dual compatible. Motherboard serial numbers and "revision 1 or 2": ------------------------------------------------- The motherboard serial number is a very small tag near the PCI board slots at the edge of the motherboard. To differentiate boards, check the EEE code (the last three digits on the serial number bar code). The EEE code is HHQ, HHP, HJZ, HKD, or HL9 for Version 1 logic boards and HQT, J6M, or JVE for Version 2 logic boards. Note: In some cases, an extra digit may be added to the end of the logic board's serial number. If none of the EEE codes listed above match the logic board you are attempting to identify, remove the last digit of the serial number and check these codes again. Note from Herb Johnson ---------------------- Motherboard model numbers are printed near the front corner and are 820-1094-A (or 1093-A). Of the G4 AGP m/b's I have seen lately: uni-n 7: 500MHz 1094-A (c)2000 Indonesia P10 MLB KD0230HZQHQTD uni-n 7: 400MHz 1094-A (c)2000 Indonesia P10 MLB KD0250FOJHQTD uni-n 7: 400MHz 1094-A (c)2000 Indonesia P10 MLB KD01505T7HQTD uni-n 3: 400MHz 1093-A Indonesia P10 MLB KD9520ELPHHPA
